On the top floor is a penthouse sitting room cum dining room with its ample terrace and commanding view of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Islands, which has a 12 place dining table. There are 3 shower rooms with WC, one on each floor. The villa has an enclosed garden and private parking behind the house. It is situated in a small hilltop village which overlooks the village and marina of Macinaggio, 3 kms distant. Tomino also looks over to the hilltop Rogliano, an historic Cap Corse town. Bastia, a beautiful historic Corse city, with its port and airport, is a 45 minute spectacular coastal drive away.
Cap Corse is a French National Park and the views in this unspoilt area of hills, mountains, sea, islands, inlets, all covered in virgin mediteranean growth, the maquis the maquis in Corsica being particularly famous for its pungent, heady perfume.
Whereas Tomino is relaxing and peaceful, Macinaggio is busy and buzzing especially in the summer months as its marina is now the biggest in Cap Corse. Thus Macinaggio is a delightful place to go for an evening aperitif at one of the many bars/cafes/restaurants around the port, or for a meal. It has many shops whether for food, gifts or clothes. It also has a sailing school which, apart from sailing and windsurfing lessons, also rents out sailing boats, windsurf boards, and canoes. There is a scuba diving school which holds courses and also hosts those in the know. There is a lovely shaded maquis campsite on the coast which has horses and which does horse rides over the hills and along the beaches. One is also able to hire a rubber motorboat and take off to the many desolate beaches and bays along the coast not reachable by car because the Cap itself has few roads and for those that have a boat, its possible to berth boats in the marina. Theres also a fishing boat that ferries people around the headland to the long white beach of Barcaggio, and which also goes on sightseeing trips to the Island of Giraglia, the northern most point of Corsica, and on fishing expeditions. Fishing is obviously a popular sport in the are, too. Macinaggio has a tennis club whose tennis courts are available at an hourly rate. And now for walking. Cap Corse is a walkers paradise, whether it be for a stroll or for some satisfying trekking. The Cap Corse Coastal Path is, by now, well known. It winds around the Cap, through the maquis, boardes the sea and one can do a couple of kilometers to the beach of Barcaggio, or carry on to the picturesque village of Centuri which is just around the Cap on the tip of the west coast. It is well worth the walk (or the drive!).
Cap Corse is unique in that it is one of the few unspoilt areas now to be found on the Mediterranean. It is rich in places of historic interest and natural beauty. By car one can go on some magnificent drives and do some enjoyable sightseeing. Or relax on uncrowded beaches with cows munching the maquis nearby and herons fishing in the beach lagoons. The Cap is fascinating, too, in Spring when the wildflowers blooming are an unbelievably beautiful sight. Or in late summer when it again reverts to its quiet rustic state. However, not even at the height of the tourist season is it ever a tourists nightmare for, fortunately, the Cap has not yet become trendy or fashionable (and one hopes it may never become so!). Thus its people, nature, history and atmosphere can be appreciated in any season.
